A Snowy Evening

Today there was finally snow fall that stayed on the ground. I was so excited! I am so excited! I went out with Lauren and I couldn't stop running around in it and she just looked at me like I was crazy. But to my surprise, there was a flood of people that ran out to join me! Snowballs were flying, people were running and sliding in the snow, and "cats" and "meow" were written in the snow. Despite getting totally soaked and having tingly fingers and toes, I really enjoyed being out there with friends having a blast. I sure do love Detroit. It bums me out though when people are so negative about the snow and don't stop complaining about it. If you really don't like it, find a way to avoid it and deal with it. Don't be such a Debbie Downer, seriously. It really dampens my spirit. I kinda makes me feel like I should be ashamed of the joy I feel when I look out the window to see gusts of snow falling past my window, and the cold air blowing my hair while placing little snow flakes all over my body. I just love it.

The hussel and bussel of ending the semester is slowly coming to an end. All nighters have become a regular deal. Even though I have had an impossible amount of homework these past two weeks and a stress level that is through the roof, I am have been enjoying myself and loving the work that I am doing. Drawing self portraits and models, creating abstract paintings on the computer, hammering out a turtle in metal shop, and creating a piece in woodshop have really been so inspiring and satisfying.

I am so excited to be able to relax in a week, but at the same time I am going to miss my classes with awesome people that I have got to know over the months. And as much as I would like to see them everyday next semester, I know I won't due to conflicting schedules.

My teachers have been so motivating and inspiring. I really love taking their classes. If only I could move on with all of them next semester. But it is kind of exciting to be able to start a new slate. Meet new people, or get to know familiar faces, and have new inspiring artists teach my classes. Words cannot describe this feeling I feel right now; excitement, inspiration, creativity, happiness, a bit of sadness, its just one big bundle of feelings!

I am also loving this little family of friends that I have created. We drew names today for secret santa. So exciting!! =] I know exactly what I am getting for my special friend. Hehe. Oh gosh, how I love Christmas. I can't wait for more snow to fall.

Art School

Man, oh man do I love art school.

It was hard for me to get started in the beginning. Getting into the rhythm and getting used to the work load, but all my struggling has really paid off. My drawing skills have improved greatly, I have broadened my knowledge of metal work, learned how to craft useful things in woodwork, learned more about the process and work that goes into creating a piece of art, and met awesome people that I know will be friends for the rest of my life.

I just love at the end of the day when I look at my hands and see particles and residue of all the materials on them that I have worked with throughout the day. Its all so thrilling.

I can only hope that this beautiful education will continue for the next three and a half years. =]

The Transition

Its November now. The leaves have gone from green to orange and yellow and have continued to fall. The city is looking more and more bare. Cold winds are billowing through the streets, and rain has become a familiar face.

It's weird to think that its already November and it feels like just yesterday I was unpacking the car to move in. Time flies when you are up to your neck in homework. Haha. Life has been good, for the most part here in Detroit. I've been getting to know my friends better and really develop bonds which is really nice. It feels good to have a good of good friends again.

Halloween was fun. Went to 3 different events. CCS Dance party, Phunk Night, and a Frat house party. All were just dandy. I dressed up as Mini Mouse, a murdered rocker (??hahaha), and batgirl! So much fun.

I've had a couple dark and down days. But got through them.

A dear friend of mine passed away in a car accident and it hit me harder then I thought it would. I've been pushing through it my doing my work, and incorporating her into it. She is missed dearly. Love you Hilary, RIP.

October

Well, its been a couple weeks since I last wrote, and a lot has happened. Midterms came and went. Projects were completed. All nighters were stretched. And good times were had.

I went with some friends to a haunted house call Erebus. It was so much fun. I loved it. I loved it so much that I am going back tomorrow. =] A large group also went to see Where the Wild Things Are, which was amazing. I cried. For an amazing book that was a big part of my childhood, they did a decent job on recreating it. I am however upset that they did make it into a movie because it takes away from my imagination. The school also went to Cedar Point. Which was totally awesome!!! So many roller coasters. I miss it already! It was Halloweekends, so the whole place was decked out with creepy people at night. I ended up going to my roommate's house after Cedar Point, then went to Ann Arbor, which was neat cuz I had never been there before.

It has just been work, work, work, and some play, play. Hahaha. Its been a good two weeks. I absolutely love it here. I kinda never want to leave. =]

So long September

September has come and gone in a blink of an eye. Its hard to believe that midterms are just around the corner.... Yikes! I'm worried about the months ahead of me. I can no longer blame my mistakes and such on being a new student! Ahhh. I now know where everything is and I am in the rhythm of this place, which is very nice, but I still wish it was September. I really enjoy that month.

Over the past two weeks or so I have done so much work. I've stayed up almost all night working on projects and papers. Drawings of hands and feet, thumbnails of optical illusions and color contrasted images, I even made a shelf in woodshop last week. My finished work is starting to pile up in my room. I don't know what to do with it, AHH! Haha.

I went to a couple of parties and danced the night away with my friends. I also had a visitor this weekend, which ended horribly. I wont be talking to him ever again. Its sad to say that that relationship went up in flames and wont ever recover.

I am no longer sick, which is great. Although I have a lingering cough and an occasional sniffle which gets annoying. I still feel exhausted all the time though, no matter how much sleep I get. It gets annoying after a while.

The weather is getting colder and rainier, which I actually really enjoy. I'm excited for the winter. =)

Well, its time to get back to woodshop!

Rain

Today was the first, cold, windy, rainy day of the season. It put me in a funk. I was down all day, and just shuffling along. I am also sick which doesn't help much. Sniffles, coughing, a throbbing headache and exhaustion. I don't know what to do. I am now behind on homework because I have been sleeping and trying to wait the cold out and not over work myself. Hasn't helped much. I feel just as stressed as before, just now the work is due this week, not in 5 days. Ha. Oh well. I'll get it done. I always do.

Besides being gloomy and sick, school is going well. I really enjoy going to class, which is a big change. And I love getting to know new people. Its just so exciting to hear about new lives, and adventures. =)

This week should be fun. It's GEEK WEEK. Since we don't have frat houses and sororities that have a Greek Week, we have a Geek Week which is full of fun activities. Also this week a dear friend of mine is coming to visit me. Can't wait!

Totally forgot to update this thing!

I guess thats a good sign? Cuz I'm so busy I forgot to write about my silly life online.

Well, where to start? This past week has been a combination of hell and fun. An unimaginable amount of homework took up all of my time that I was awake for, outside of class.

I went to a couple of parties. Met new people, as well as familiar faces that became faces that I now know.

I have also been going to a family friend's house every Thursday to get away from the school environment. I also saw my Aunt, Uncle, Cousins and Grandma. Had a lovely dinner.

All in all, not much of an exciting week, but it was a busy one.

Oh, and I am also very sick. I have been in my bed for the past like two days trying to get better. =(
