Rain

Today was the first, cold, windy, rainy day of the season. It put me in a funk. I was down all day, and just shuffling along. I am also sick which doesn't help much. Sniffles, coughing, a throbbing headache and exhaustion. I don't know what to do. I am now behind on homework because I have been sleeping and trying to wait the cold out and not over work myself. Hasn't helped much. I feel just as stressed as before, just now the work is due this week, not in 5 days. Ha. Oh well. I'll get it done. I always do.
Besides being gloomy and sick, school is going well. I really enjoy going to class, which is a big change. And I love getting to know new people. Its just so exciting to hear about new lives, and adventures. =)
This week should be fun. It's GEEK WEEK. Since we don't have frat houses and sororities that have a Greek Week, we have a Geek Week which is full of fun activities. Also this week a dear friend of mine is coming to visit me. Can't wait!
That's all for now.
Night!

Ooops!

Totally forgot to update this thing!
I guess thats a good sign? Cuz I'm so busy I forgot to write about my silly life online.
Well, where to start? This past week has been a combination of hell and fun. An unimaginable amount of homework took up all of my time that I was awake for, outside of class.
I went to a couple of parties. Met new people, as well as familiar faces that became faces that I now know.
I have also been going to a family friend's house every Thursday to get away from the school environment. I also saw my Aunt, Uncle, Cousins and Grandma. Had a lovely dinner.
All in all, not much of an exciting week, but it was a busy one.
Night!

Oh, and I am also very sick. I have been in my bed for the past like two days trying to get better. =(

Long Week

Wow, didn't really realize how long its been. This past week as been full of classes, homework, sleep and more homework. I'm really loving the school, learning new technics and improving my art skills. I do have to complain about the work load however. I seem to be spending all of my time outside of class doing homework. Lots, and lots of homework. I know its only preparing me for big struggles in the future, but man, its killing me!
I have met more people and strengthened my friendships with the people I met on move in day and such. Starting to have a social group which is nice, and starting to be comfortable.
I'm hanging out in the computer lab right now with Lauren and Kenneth. Fun times!

Lazy Sunday

Well, it has been a week of classes and homework. Its hard work, but its fun as well. I can tell that I am going to like it here. Although the expensive supplies have gotten to me. I have spent WAY too much money this week, and I have more to buy tomorrow. Ahhh!
I spent this weekend with some dear family friends, which was very much needed. I also went to a party with Lauren, as well as a crazy amount of CCS students. I met new people, danced, and had a great time. I actually met a guy who went to the Detroit Waldorf school!! (the same kind of school I went to all my life.) I was, I still am amazed that I met him. It was crazy. We were in a group talking and we both mentioned that we had gone to a different kind of school, and I asked if he knew what Waldorf was and he freaked out saying that he went k-8 at Waldorf. I think I may have found a new best friend! Hahaha. He is a great guy. He actually has a book that will be coming out within the next year, which is totally awesome. Anyways, the party was great and I really enjoyed myself.
Today has been a lazy Sunday. Slept in, had brunch, and did homework for a couple of hours. Now I'm just hanging out in my room, debating whether or not to take a nap. Tehe. I figure that if i do, I can do homework later, since I don't have class till 12:45 tomorrow. =]

....I think I just might take that nap. Later!

The Beginnings of School

Well, the past couple days have been great. Went down to the Jazz Festival on Saturday night with some friends. There were crazy fireworks. On Sunday I went on a tour of Detroit which was really cool. I got to see neat places to hang out. We also went to the Jazz Festival again. Monday was a lazy day. Didn't do much, just relaxed and prepared mentally for classes.
Today was my first day of college classes. Wooo! (NOT). It wasn't that bad, so I can't really complain. Just went over the basics of the class, then was assigned a small amount of homework.
The part that I wasn't too happy about is buying supplies for my classes though. Its freaking expensive!! And I only bought stuff for one class! I have to buy so much more tomorrow. AHHHH!
Anywho, its pretty exciting to have started classes and to be an actual college student now. I still can't believe it. It feels so unreal.

Long Days

The past two days have been great. I had orientation on Thursday which was long, and a little boring. But I did meet some cool new people who I will be spending a lot of time with in my major. Later Thursday night we had a dance party on the 9th floor of my building. It was fun, but I wasn't really comfortable dancing with so many new people. One day though, one day. Hahaha. After the little dance party Alyssia and I wandered around. Then headed back to our room.
Yesterday was a total lazy day. I didn't get out of bed until like 1 PM! Haha. It was very much needed though. The past couple days had been to jam packed that I hadn't gotten much sleep and I was so exhausted from doing activities non-stop all day. There was a bonfire last night by the ACB where there was music, s'mores, drinks, and some volleyball playin. Then after a while of hanging out there, Lauren and I went back to her room to watch a movie.
The past couple days have been pretty boring. Just meeting new people and trying to get used to living in Detroit. Today is move in day for the returning students, so it will be neat to see how many more people will be living in my building. =]

Day Two

Today I woke up to the sound of a fire alarm, ran down eight flights of stairs and stumbled out into the cold morning with all the sleepy students. I later found out that this lovely occurrence was the result of a construction worker spray painting too close to a smoke detecter. All sleepy and not looking forward to taking an english exam I got dressed and headed over to the main campus. After almost passing out in the essay section, my roomies and I wandered around the campus waiting for the free pizza (YUM!). While standing around in the cafeteria it was fun to observe the new students interacting with each other. Some were playing pool, and ping pong, others were having loud, entertaining conversations. As a very large group, we headed down to the a basement for the basics of using the CCS website, which to be honest, was pretty darn boring (blah). We met our RAs, did a few introductions, then headed back to the dorm, where I met someone new! Lauren! (She's pretty darn awesome), I then proceeded to fall asleep for a couple of hours (very much needed).
Later that evening a whole bunch of us walked a very long distance to GREEKTOWN!! Woo! I had some lovely breakfast, and some Superman ice cream. So good. =)
When I got back to my dorm I decided to take a shower.... Which was FREEZING. Absolutely no warm water. After a while I got used to it, but man was I cold. Haha.
Overall, this day was a great one. I met so many new people, got the hang of this place, and began spotting out cool places to hang in the Big D. Tehe. Orientation is tomorrow, which should be fun, but it is all day. 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM. AHHH! Such a long day. =/ Well, in order for me to somehow survive tomorrow with out a nap, some good sleeping is in order.
Night!

Move In

Yesterday was my first day at College for Creative Studies. It was new and exciting. As I drove up to the campus with my cousin a wave a nervousness washed over me, and I thought to myself: "Wow, I am actually here. I am actually doing this whole college thing. SO WEIRD." We parked and headed to the main office. As I stood in line waiting to take my ID picture I watched all the new students nervously looking around and wondered who my new friends would be. It was all so exciting! After I took my picture (which is not too great), we drove the car over to the loading area, unpacked my two suitcases and two small bags, and a few bags of stuff for my bed, and I couldn't believe how little stuff I had compared to all the other students! And I thought I had packed a lot. Well, for flying from Los Angeles, it was a lot of luggage. But these students had trucks full of stuff, one or two even had a small trailer attached to a truck! After some meet and greet conversation we were finally loaded into the freight elevator (which is HUGE!) with one of my roommates that I met while unloading, we had begun our college experience. Chelsea (one of my roommates) and I walked down this big hall searching for our room. And we found it! I was so surprised at how big it was! Its pretty awesome. Its in a corner, an L shaped room, that looks downtown Detroit as well as, hmmm, sideways? Haha, I'm not sure which way it faces, anyways, I love it. As we were looking around our third roommate, Alyssia came in. Yay! We all unpacked and started to get settled. After an hour or so of fixing up the room Alyssia, a couple of her friends and I went out walking on a search for food.
As the day went on, bonding happened and Alyssia and I met more and more people. In the evening we had a housing meeting which told us about the usual guidelines and activities that will go on. But after that, the roomies and I decided to go out shopping. Well, we kind of got lost and ended up in Canada! Oh NO! Its all good though, we managed to get out and back on track.
About 200 dollars worth of supplies and food later (amongst the three of us), we headed back to our dorm.
When we got back to our room I was EXHAUSTED. As soon as I hit the pillow, I was out.
Over all, I have to say it was a very successful day. CCS so far is a fantastic place to be, and I can't wait to continue my year here. =)
